Hello! Welcome back to my blog! This is a series of my blog talking about Japanese cultures and traditions . Today, I wanna share how wonderful Japan is in terms of food and I am excited to share all the awesome details with you. You should not miss out on it! I hope you’ll be looking forward to visiting Japan! I posted another article about Japanese foods. You can learn about Japanese foods like sushi, ra-men and so on. If you are interested, you can check the link below!

Let’s get this started!

Natto is a traditional Japanese fermented soybeans. I have posted a picture of Natto below. I have friends from other countries, and most of them do not like Natto. Even Japanese people have strong likes and dislikes about it. The reason some people dislike it is because of its smell. It is a bit stinky, and sticky texture. However, Natto is considered a healthy food with a unique taste. Many people in Japan eat Natto for breakfast, often paired with rice. The way to eat it varies from person to person. Typically, soy sauce is added to Natto. If you prefer, Japanese mustard called karashi and green onions can also be added. Japanese mustard is spicier than other types. Natto rolls, known as Natto maki, are also popular. If you visit Japan or find Natto in grocery stores, you should give it a try!

Next, I’d like to introduce the rice ball called Onigiri made from white rice. We usually put fillings into the rice when making Onigiri. There are many fillings including cod roe, grilled salmon, salted pickled plum, salmon, sea kelp, and Bonito flakes mixed with soy sauce. The rice is sticky and fluffy. The combination of the rice and fillings in Onigiri is amazing.Onigiri is easy to make so you can make it by yourself. There are many shops where you can buy rice balls. Depending on the store, you can find dozens of rice balls. Personally, I enjoy eating rice balls during picnics, such as cherry blossom parties! I have posted an article about Japan that touches on cherry blossoms. If you are interested, you can check the link below!”

“Lastly, I’d like to talk about Miso soup. It is a traditional Japanese soup made from soybean paste. It is loved by many Japanese people, especially for breakfast, and some even enjoy it on a daily basis. Common ingredients include green onions, seaweed, tofu, and more. You can freely add additional vegetables and meats if you want. Miso soup is considered a healthy food as it is very nutritious. Also, It is often served as part of a set meal at Japanese restaurants. The rich broth enhances the soup’s flavor!

This is a column where I introduce simple joys found in Japan. Baseball season is around the corner in Japan. Nippon Professional Baseball will kick off on March 29. It is no exaggeration to say that baseball is the most popular sport. There are many avid supporters wearing uniforms and cheering enthusiastically! No doubt Japanese baseball will be filled with excitement this year! This picture is one of the Japanese baseball stadiums.

This is the end of my article for today. How was it? There are many Japanese foods that you must try. Which Japanese foods do you prefer to eat? Why not visit here and see for yourself? I will continue to visit as many wonderful places as possible and share them with people in Japan this year.
